Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup (First Use)
- Unpack: Remove the gilet from its dust bag. It may appear compressed.
- Allow to Loft: Gently shake the gilet and lay it flat for a few minutes to allow the goose down to expand and regain its full loft. This maximizes its insulating properties.
Compatibility
- Layering: This gilet is designed to be highly compatible with various clothing. Wear it over t-shirts, long-sleeve tops, or light sweaters. For added warmth and weather protection, it can be comfortably worn under a jacket or coat.
- Activities: Suitable for a wide range of activities including walking, hiking, light jogs, commuting, and casual wear.
Care Instructions
Proper care ensures the longevity and warmth of your gilet:
- Washing: Refer to the care label inside the gilet for specific instructions. Generally, down-filled items require gentle washing.
- Use a front-loading washing machine on a delicate cycle with cold water.
- Use a specialized down wash detergent, or a very small amount of mild, non-detergent soap.
- Avoid fabric softeners.
- Drying: This is crucial for down.
- Tumble dry on low heat with several clean tennis balls or dryer balls. This helps break up down clumps and restores loft.
- Dry for an extended period, checking frequently, until the down is completely dry to prevent mildew.
- Never air dry completely, as down can clump and lose its insulating properties.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the gilet unpacked in a cool, dry place. While it comes with a dust bag for portability, long-term storage unpacked allows the down to breathe and maintain loft. If packing for travel, ensure it's completely dry before compressing.
