Full details

The ROADSTER Garden Shears are designed for home gardeners seeking precision and comfort during pruning tasks. Their key benefit lies in the combination of lightweight, ergonomic design and sharp, durable carbon steel blades for effortless cutting. FAQs

What material are the blades made of?

The blades are crafted from high-quality carbon steel through a drop-forging process.

Can these shears cut through very thick branches?

These 20-inch shears provide good leverage and are designed to make quick work of thicker branches within their recommended capacity, but extremely thick branches may require loppers.

How do I maintain the cushioned grips?

Wipe the grips with a damp cloth as needed. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could degrade the cushion material.

Are these shears suitable for left-handed users?

Yes, the ergonomic design and balanced weight distribution make them comfortable for both right and left-handed users.

How often should I sharpen the blades?

The frequency depends on usage. Sharpen when you notice a decline in cutting performance, typically after significant use or when cutting tougher materials.

What is the warranty period for these garden shears?

Please refer to the product packaging or manufacturer's website for specific warranty information, as it can vary.

Can I leave these shears outdoors?

It is recommended to store the shears in a dry location after use to prevent rust and maintain their condition, despite the anti-rust components.

Troubleshooting

Blades are not cutting cleanly

Ensure the blades are clean and free from sap or debris. Sharpen the blades using a sharpening stone or file. Check that the pivot screw is tightened appropriately, not too loose or too tight.

Handles feel uncomfortable during use

Ensure you are gripping the handles correctly, utilizing the cushioned areas. If the size is an issue, consider taking more frequent breaks or using a different tool for very fine work.

Shears feel stiff or difficult to open/close

Clean the pivot area and apply a light lubricant. Check for any debris caught in the mechanism. Ensure the pivot screw is correctly adjusted.

Rust appears on the blades

Clean the rust off with a fine-grade steel wool or rust remover. Dry thoroughly and apply a light coat of oil to protect the blades. Ensure the shears are stored in a dry environment.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: The ROADSTER Garden Shears require no assembly. They are ready for immediate use out of the packaging.

Compatibility: These shears are suitable for a wide range of gardening tasks, including pruning live wood, shaping hedges, trimming shrubs, and clearing light brush. They are compatible with most common garden plant types.

Care:

Cleaning: After each use, wipe the blades clean with a damp cloth to remove sap and debris. Ensure the shears are dry before storing.
Lubrication: Periodically apply a light lubricant to the pivot point to ensure smooth operation.
Sharpening: When the blades begin to dull, use a sharpening stone or file specifically designed for garden tools to maintain their edge. Always sharpen away from your body.
Storage: Store the shears in a dry place to prevent rust. Consider using a protective cover for the blades if stored for extended periods.
