Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials from both the kettle and toaster. Place the appliances on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from water and other heat sources.
- Kettle First Use: Before first use, fill the kettle to its maximum `MAX` level with fresh water. Boil the water, then discard it. Repeat this process two to three times to remove any manufacturing residues.
- Toaster First Use: Before first use, operate the toaster for a few cycles at the medium browning setting without bread. This will burn off any manufacturing oils and odors. A slight smell or smoke is normal during this initial process. Ensure good ventilation.
- Connect Power: Plug both appliances into suitable 220-240V, 50/60Hz grounded power outlets. Utilize the handy cord storage to keep excess cable neatly tucked away.
Compatibility
The Haden Highclere Kettle & Toaster Set is designed for use with a standard 220-240V ~ 50/60Hz electrical supply, common in the UK and many other regions. Ensure your electrical outlets are compatible with these specifications.
Care
Kettle Care:
- Exterior Cleaning: After ensuring the kettle is unplugged and cool, wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers, as this can damage the premium coated stainless steel housing.
- Interior Cleaning/Descaling: Regular descaling is crucial, especially in hard water areas.
- Unplug the kettle and ensure it is cool.
- Remove the limescale filter and rinse it under running water, gently brushing off any deposits.
- For stubborn limescale, use a commercially available kettle descaler according to its instructions. Alternatively, you can use a solution of white vinegar and water (equal parts). Fill the kettle with the solution and let it stand for an hour (or longer for heavy scale), then boil. Rinse thoroughly several times with fresh water afterward to remove any vinegar smell.
- Storage: Ensure the kettle is empty and dry before storing. Use the cord storage feature to keep the power cord tidy.
Toaster Care:
- Exterior Cleaning: Always unplug the toaster and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Crumb Tray Cleaning: Regularly empty the dual removable sliding crumb trays.
- Unplug the toaster and let it cool.
- Pull out the crumb trays from the bottom of the toaster.
- Discard crumbs and wipe the trays clean with a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly before reinserting.
- Interior Cleaning: Never insert utensils or fingers into the toaster slots. If bread becomes jammed, unplug the toaster and carefully remove the bread once cool. Do not shake the toaster upside down, as this can damage the internal heating elements.
- Storage: Ensure the toaster is cool and clean before storing. Utilize the cord storage to keep the power cord neat.
