Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Unpack all components and identify the steel frame poles, connectors, mesh cover, ground rods, and stakes. Assemble the steel frame according to the provided instructions, ensuring all connections are secure. Drape the HDPE mesh cover over the frame, aligning the zipped door with a desired opening. Secure the mesh cover to the frame using the integrated ties or Velcro strips. Finally, insert the ground rods into the pre-drilled holes at the base of the frame and push them firmly into the soil. Use the U-shaped stakes to further anchor the extended edges of the mesh to the ground.
Compatibility: This fruit cage is designed to fit over most standard raised garden beds with dimensions up to 2 meters long and 1 meter wide. It is suitable for a variety of crops including tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, brassicas, and other vegetables or fruits that require protection. Ensure your garden bed or planting area is relatively level for optimal stability.
Care: To maintain the longevity of the fruit cage, periodically inspect the steel frame for any signs of rust and clean as needed. The HDPE mesh cover can be wiped down with a damp cloth and mild soap if it becomes dirty. Ensure the cage is properly anchored, especially before strong winds or adverse weather. During the off-season, it is recommended to disassemble the cage and store the components in a dry place to prevent wear and tear.
