Ping G740 Golf Irons - Graphite
The Ping G740 irons are designed to deliver exceptional distance, forgiveness and consistency for ...The Ping G740 irons are designed to deliver exceptional distance, forgiveness and consistency for golfers who benefit most from a super game-improvement iron. Built with advanced perimeter weighting and a confidence-inspiring profile, the G740 irons help players launch the ball higher while maintaining strong ball speeds across the face. Through a combination of wider sole geometry, optimised weight distribution and a flexible face design, Ping has engineered an iron that helps golfers achieve easier launch, improved forgiveness and more reliable distance throughout the set. EXTREME FORGIVENESS DESIGN The G740 irons feature a wider sole, longer blade length and thicker topline compared to previous models, helping maximise perimeter weighting and stability. This design lowers the centre of gravity while increasing MOI, allowing golfers to experience greater forgiveness and improved ball-speed retention on off-centre strikes. The added stability helps deliver higher launch and more consistent carry distances, particularly for golfers who tend to strike the ball lower on the face. WIDER DUAL-CAMBER SOLE The dual-camber sole design plays a key role in the performance of the G740 irons. By positioning the centre of gravity lower and further back, it helps produce faster ball speeds and a higher launch. This sole geometry also improves turf interaction, allowing the club to glide more smoothly through the ground for cleaner strikes and improved consistency from a variety of lies. HIGH-LAUNCH LONG IRONS The 5 and 6 irons feature a 3/4 inch length progression, helping golfers launch long iron shots higher and achieve greater carry distance. This makes the longer irons easier to hit while maintaining consistent distance gapping through the set. SHALLOW FACE WITH ENHANCED FEEL The G740 irons are engineered with a shallower face height and shorter hosel, saving weight that is redistributed into the back of the clubhead. This additional mass improves overall stability and enhances sound and feel at impact. A thin, flexible face works alongside a new three-piece PurFlex cavity badge, which helps dampen vibrations while supporting consistent face flex for improved ball speed and a more satisfying impact experience. PRECISION MILLED WEDGES The G740 irons include options of 5-9 irons, pitching wedge, utility wedge, 50 degrees wedge and 56 degrees wedge. The grooves on all four wedges are precision milled to help improve spin control and short-game performance around the greens. Golfers seeking a balanced approach for both accuracy and launch angle. PWR Spec Loft Stronger lofts designed to maximise ball speed and distance, ideal for players with higher swing speeds who want more carry and a more aggressive launch. Golfers with higher swing speeds looking to achieve greater distance while maintaining control. Retro Spec Loft Traditional loft setup with weaker lofts to achieve a higher ball flight and more controlled distances. Ideal for golfers looking for a classic feel and more manageable launch. Golfers seeking a more traditional feel with a focus on higher ball flights and consistent distances. The G740 iron’s combination of distance, forgiveness and consistency make it a great choice for golfers who best fit into a super-game-improvement iron. The wider sole width (+22% vs. G440), longer blade length (+3%) and thicker topline maximize perimeter weighting and help lower the CG in the G740 iron. This increases the MOI for more forgiveness, higher launch and ball-speed retention on mishits. The 5- to 6-iron has a ¾" length progression to help launch shots higher and farther. The wider dual-camber sole of the G740 iron helps position the CG down and back, leading to consistent ball speeds and higher launch for the target golfer, who tends to strike the ball low on the face. This dual-camber design also gets the club into and out of the ground easier. The G740 iron is engineered with a shallower face height and shorter hosel that saves weight, which allows for mass buildup in the back of the cavity to improve sound and feel while ensuring a high MOI. The thin, flexible face is supported by a new three-piece PurFlex cavity badge to help dampen vibrations and substantially improve the impact experience. The G740 iron set is comprised of 5-9, PW, U wedge, 50° and 56°. The grooves on all four wedges are precision milled for better short-game performance. G740 iron perimeter weighting lowers CG, increases MOI for extreme forgiveness, higher launch Wider dual-camber sole positions CG low/back, leading to faster ball speeds, higher launch across G740 irons Dual-camber design of the G740 iron improves turf interaction Shallow face and shorter hosel save weight, increasing the MOI, improving sound and feel of the G740 PurFlex cavity badge in the G740 irons damps vibrations to improve the impact experience.
