For most wood applications, pre-drilling is not necessary thanks to the 4CUT point and integrated serrations. However, for extremely dense hardwoods or very critical edge applications, a small pilot hole might be beneficial.

T-STAR Plus is SPAX's proprietary drive system that provides a superior connection between the screw head and the driver bit. T20 refers to the specific size of the T-STAR Plus bit required for this screw.

The black metallic coating offers enhanced durability and some corrosion resistance. However, for prolonged or harsh outdoor exposure, additional protective measures or screws specifically rated for outdoor use are recommended.

Full thread screws have threads along the entire length of the shaft, offering maximum holding power and allowing the screw to bear tensile and compressive forces. Partial thread screws have a smooth shank near the head, which helps pull two pieces of wood together more tightly.

Ensure you are using a T20 bit and that it is fully seated in the T-STAR Plus recess. Apply firm, consistent pressure directly in line with the screw.

While pre-drilling is often not needed, very dense hardwoods might benefit from a pilot hole. Ensure the screw is aligned straight and apply steady pressure. Check if the screw thread is obstructed.

Verify you are using the correct screw size for the wood thickness. Ensure the 4CUT point is engaged properly. For extremely brittle wood or near edges, consider a slightly larger pilot hole than usual.

The countersunk head should mill into the wood. If it's not sitting flush, the wood might be too hard, or the hole area might have debris. Ensure the head area is clear and try driving the screw slightly slower.
