FAQs

Is a mattress included with the bed frame?

No, the mattress is not included with the Modernique Ottoman Storage Bed. You will need to purchase a suitable mattress separately.

What are the dimensions of the Single (3ft) bed?

The Single (3ft) bed has the following approximate dimensions: Length = 204 cm, Width = 98 cm. The headboard height is 89.5 cm, and the footboard height is 31 cm. The storage depth is 25.50 cm.

How deep is the storage space under the bed?

The storage space under the bed has a depth of approximately 25.50 cm across all available sizes.

Can I assemble this bed by myself?

While assembly is possible alone, it is highly recommended to have two people, especially for lifting and securing the ottoman base and mechanism.

What type of mattress is best for this bed?

The bed is compatible with most standard UK single mattresses. Sprung wooden slats provide good support for various mattress types, including foam, hybrid, and traditional spring mattresses. Ensure the mattress weight is suitable for the lifting mechanism.

How do I clean the grey linen fabric?

For best results, vacuum the fabric regularly with a soft brush attachment. Spot clean minor stains with a slightly damp cloth and a mild soap solution, testing on an inconspicuous area first.

What is the warranty period for this bed?

Warranty information can vary. Please refer to the product packaging or the retailer's website for specific warranty details provided by Modernique.

Troubleshooting

Bed frame creaks during use

Check that all bolts and screws are fully tightened, particularly where the frame sections and slats connect. Ensure the slats are seated correctly in their holders.

Ottoman lift mechanism feels stiff or difficult to operate

Ensure the mattress is evenly positioned on the base. Check for any obstructions beneath the base or around the lifting arms. If newly assembled, it may loosen slightly with regular use.

Slats appear loose or are falling out

Verify that the slats are correctly placed within the pre-drilled holes or grooves on the side rails and center support (if applicable). Some models may include plastic slat holders.

Storage compartment does not close smoothly

Confirm that items stored inside are not protruding beyond the base area. Ensure the mattress is correctly aligned and not catching on the frame as the base closes.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Offers substantial hidden storage, maximizing bedroom space.
  • The grey linen finish provides a sophisticated and modern look.
  • The high, padded headboard enhances comfort for relaxing in bed.
  • Sprung wooden slats offer good mattress support and breathability.
  • Durable build quality suitable for everyday use.

Cons

  • Mattress is sold separately, requiring an additional purchase.
  • Assembly may require two people and can be time-consuming.
  • The storage lift mechanism requires a firm pull and may be heavy when a mattress is in place.
  • Height of the footboard and side rails might be a consideration for very small rooms.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: This bed frame requires assembly. It is recommended to have two people for easier construction, particularly when attaching the ottoman mechanism and lifting the mattress base. Ensure all fittings are securely tightened before use.

Compatibility: The bed is designed to accommodate standard UK mattress sizes. Please refer to the specific dimensions for the Single (3ft) variant: Length = 204 cm, Width = 98 cm. The storage depth is 25.50 cm. Ensure your chosen mattress is compatible with an Ottoman frame; a memory foam or hybrid mattress often works well.

Care: To clean the grey linen upholstery, use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner to remove dust. For minor stains, spot clean with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, testing in an inconspicuous area first. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the ottoman mechanism is free of obstructions before closing the base.
