Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Ensure the CV boot is correctly positioned on the driveshaft.
- Place the stainless steel clamp over the boot, ensuring it sits flush.
- Open the jaws of the Laser 7316 pliers.
- Position the jaws around the clamp band.
- For precise tightening, attach a compatible 3/8" drive torque wrench to the drive socket on the pliers.
- Set the torque wrench to the manufacturer's recommended torque setting (typically 23-30Nm).
- Squeeze the pliers handles firmly until the torque wrench indicates the set torque has been reached.
Compatibility:
This tool is specifically designed for high-strength stainless steel CV boot clamps. It is compatible with a wide range of vehicles, including those from:
- Ford
- VAG (Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, SEAT)
- Vauxhall
- Opel
It is also compatible with 3/8" drive torque wrenches. An example of a compatible torque wrench is the Laser Part No. 1342.
Care:
- After use, clean the pliers with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove any dirt or grease.
- Store the pliers in a dry environment to prevent rust.
- Periodically check the jaws for wear or damage. If damaged, do not use the tool to ensure accurate clamping.
- Lubricate the pivot points if the action becomes stiff.
