Product Information

Full details

The Smeg FAB32LRD6UK is a freestanding fridge-freezer for those who prioritize distinctive retro style alongside substantial capacity and modern functionality. Its key benefit is the striking 50's-inspired glossy red design combined with a generous 331L storage space, frost-free freezer, and a specialized LifePlus 0°C drawer for extended food freshness. A potential caveat is its Energy Efficiency Class C rating, which, while strong for its size and features, may be less efficient than some newer, lower-rated models.

Troubleshooting

Fridge or freezer is not cooling sufficiently

Check that the temperature is set correctly. Ensure the doors are fully closed and not blocked by food items. Verify that the ventilation grilles are not obstructed. Allow time for the unit to reach the set temperature after initial loading or power interruptions.

Appliance is making unusual noises

Some operational noises like humming or clicking are normal. If noises are excessively loud or irregular, check if the unit is level. Ensure it is not touching any walls or cabinets.

Water is pooling inside the fridge or freezer

Ensure the drain hole inside the appliance is not blocked. If the frost-free system is functioning correctly, minimal condensation is expected. Check that door seals are clean and creating a tight seal.

Interior light is not working

Check if the light bulb needs replacing. Ensure the door is fully open, as the light is typically activated by a door switch.

Exterior condensation

This can occur in high humidity conditions. Ensure door seals are intact and clean. Check that the appliance is not placed too close to a heat source or in a poorly ventilated area.

Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions

Setup:

Placement: Ensure the fridge-freezer is placed on a level surface away from direct sunlight and heat sources (like ovens or radiators). Allow adequate ventilation space around the unit (check manufacturer's minimum clearance recommendations).
Power Connection: Connect the appliance to a suitable grounded electrical outlet. The power cord is 1.8 meters long.
Initial Cooling: Allow the appliance to cool for at least 4-6 hours before loading it with food. This ensures the internal temperatures stabilize properly.

Compatibility:

Installation: This is a freestanding unit and is not designed for built-in installation. The door hinge is fixed on the left side and cannot be reversed.
Climate Class: Rated SN-T, meaning it is designed to operate effectively in ambient temperatures between 10°C and 43°C.
Electrical Requirements: Requires a standard 220-240V, 50/60 Hz power supply with a connected load of 127 W and a current of 0.8 A.

Care:

Cleaning: Regularly clean the interior and exterior. Use a soft, damp cloth with mild detergent for the interior and exterior surfaces. Avoid abrasive cleaners. The glass shelves can be removed for easier cleaning.
Defrosting: The freezer compartment is frost-free, so no manual defrosting is required. The fridge also has automatic defrost.
Door Seals: Ensure door seals are kept clean to maintain optimal cooling efficiency. Wipe them gently with a damp cloth.
Ventilation: Periodically check that ventilation openings are clear of obstructions.
