Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
Upon receiving your Dartington Red Wine Glasses, it's recommended to wash them thoroughly before their first use. This removes any manufacturing residues and ensures they are pristine for your first pour.
- Unpack Carefully: Remove glasses from packaging, ensuring a firm grip.
- Initial Wash: Wash by hand with warm soapy water or place in the dishwasher on a gentle cycle.
- Dry: Dry with a lint-free cloth or allow to air dry completely.
Compatibility
These glasses are specifically designed for red wines, including full-bodied varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah/Shiraz, and Zinfandel, as well as lighter reds like Pinot Noir and Grenache. While they can technically hold other beverages, their shape and size are optimized for the aeration and aromatic development characteristic of red wines.
Care Instructions
Proper care will ensure the longevity and pristine appearance of your Dartington crystal glasses.
- Dishwasher Use: These glasses are dishwasher safe. For best results and to maintain their sparkle, use a gentle cycle with a low-temperature setting. Ensure glasses are spaced adequately to prevent knocking during the wash cycle. Avoid harsh detergents.
- Hand Washing: If hand washing, use warm water and a mild dish soap. Use a soft sponge or cloth to clean. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the crystal.
- Drying: For a streak-free shine, dry immediately after washing with a clean, lint-free microfiber cloth. Avoid twisting the base and bowl in opposite directions when drying, as this can stress the stem.
- Storage: Store glasses upright in a cabinet or on a hanging rack where they are protected from dust and accidental knocks. Ensure they are not stored upside down on the rim, as this can trap moisture or damage the rim.
