Full details

The Cobra OPTM X Fairway Wood is designed for adult golfers seeking enhanced ball speed and forgiveness in their long game. Its primary benefit is delivering consistent performance from both the tee and fairway, aiding in easy launch, straighter flight, and dependable control. A potential caveat is that its advanced adjustability may require some user learning to optimize for individual swing characteristics. Key features include forgiveness-led performance with speed, stability through POI optimization, refined head shaping for control, adjustable trajectory tuning, and consistent ball speed across the face with H.O.T. Face technology.

FAQs

What is the primary benefit of the OPTM X Fairway Wood?

The primary benefit is the combination of strong ball speed with forgiveness, designed to provide consistent performance and control for adult golfers.

How does the POI optimization help my game?

POI optimization reduces clubhead twisting on off-center strikes, leading to improved accuracy, tighter shot dispersion, and more repeatable results.

Can I adjust the launch angle and spin rate?

Yes, the club features an adjustable weighting system with two interchangeable weights. Placing the heavier weight in the back encourages a higher launch and more forgiveness, while placing it in the toe lowers launch and reduces spin for a more penetrating flight.

What makes the ball speed consistent across the face?

The forged face insert with H.O.T. Face technology enhances face flex across multiple strike locations, helping to preserve ball speed and distance even on mis-hits.

What are the available loft options?

The OPTM X Fairway Wood is typically available in a 3-wood (14.5° standard loft) and a 3-wood High Fly (16.0° standard loft), and a 5-wood (17.5° standard loft), each with an adjustable loft range.

What shaft and grip come standard with the club?

The standard shaft is the MCA Kai'li Dark Waves Blue 60, and the standard grip is the SuperStroke Crossline 360 in Black.

Is this club suitable for beginners?

While forgiving, the advanced adjustability is best suited for golfers looking to fine-tune their performance. Beginners might benefit from simpler club designs, but dedicated golfers can learn to optimize its features.

Troubleshooting

Clubface feels unusually stiff or unresponsive.

Ensure the face is clean and free of debris, as dirt can affect the feel. If the issue persists, there might be an internal defect, and contacting customer support is advised.

Difficulty adjusting the weights.

Ensure you are using the correct tool and that it is properly seated in the weight screw. If the screw is tight or stuck, do not force it; contact customer support for assistance.

Inconsistent ball flight despite adjustments.

Verify that the weights are securely fastened after adjustment. Also, consider other factors such as swing mechanics, ball position, and turf conditions, as these can significantly impact ball flight.

Clubhead makes an unusual sound upon impact.

Check the clubhead for any loose parts, particularly the adjustable weights. Ensure they are properly tightened. If the sound persists, it may indicate an internal issue requiring professional inspection.

Pros and Cons

  • Offers easy launch and straighter flight for improved accuracy.
  • Provides dependable long-game control from various lies.
  • Enhanced stability reduces unwanted clubhead twisting on off-center hits.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: The Cobra OPTM X Fairway Wood features an adjustable weighting system. To adjust the trajectory, locate the two interchangeable weights (typically 11g and 3g) in the sole of the clubhead. Unscrew the weights using the provided tool (if applicable) and swap their positions: place the heavier weight in the back for higher launch and maximum forgiveness, or in the toe for a lower launch and reduced spin. Consult the product manual for specific instructions on the tool and weight removal/insertion.

Compatibility: The club is designed for adult golfers and is available in Right Hand (RH) and Left Hand (LH) options, with specific models noted. The stock shaft is the MCA Kai'li Dark Waves Blue 60, available in different flexes (S and R). The standard grip is the SuperStroke Crossline 360. The adjustable loft range for the 3-wood is typically 12.5° to 16.5°, and for the 5-wood, it's 15.0° to 19.0°.

Care: After each use, it is recommended to clean the clubface and sole with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or tools that could damage the club's finish. Store the club in a cool, dry place, preferably in a golf bag with individual club dividers to prevent scratches.
