High-quality buckles simply squeeze to open and push together to snap shut. These have a ladderlock function on one side and a loop on the other. To ensure correct buckle size, buckles are measured by the width of the material that fits through them. For example, if you have 25 mm / 1 inch webbing you will need a 25 mm / 1 inch buckle. Buckle Size = Webbing Width. Buckles do not interchange with different manufacturers' buckles so you will most likely need to replace both sides if trying to repair one side of a buckle.
