Full details
The Silvine Tracing Pad is an essential tool for artists, architects, and students who require a reliable surface for detailed tracing, design overlays, and technical transfers. This A4 pad provides 40 sheets of lightweight, high-clarity 63gsm paper that balances transparency with durability. While it is perfect for sketching and precision work, users should note that the lightweight paper is not designed for heavy-duty media like thick paint or alcohol-based markers that may bleed through.

FAQs
Is this paper acid-free?
The paper is designed for standard tracing and design work; please check the specific batch details if long-term archival storage is required.
Can I use this with a printer?
Due to its light 63gsm weight, it is not recommended for use in standard desktop printers as it may jam the feeding mechanism.
Is the paper textured or smooth?
The paper features a smooth surface specifically chosen to ensure consistent flow for fineliners and pencils.
Does the glue binding leave residue on the paper?
The glue is designed for clean removal, but ensure you pull the sheet at a steady angle against the grain to avoid any adhesive transfer.
Can I use markers on this?
Light sketching is possible, but avoid alcohol-based markers as they will bleed through the thin 63gsm paper.
Troubleshooting
Paper rippling during use
Reduce the amount of ink or moisture applied to the paper; stick to dry media or fine-tip technical pens.
Hard to see through the paper
Increase the contrast of your reference image or use a light box/bright LED source beneath the pad.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- High transparency for accurate detail work
- Easy tear-off sheets with glue binding
- Lightweight and portable A4 size
- Smooth surface texture prevents pen skipping
Cons
- Not suitable for heavy wet media
- Paper is thin and can wrinkle if saturated
- Limited to pencil, fineliner, or ink usage
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To get the best results, place the tracing pad over a clean, flat surface or a light box to maximize transparency. The A4 format fits perfectly within standard desk organizers and flat file cabinets.
Care Instructions:
- Keep the pad stored in a dry environment to prevent the paper from absorbing ambient moisture, which can cause rippling.
- When drawing, use a backing sheet if you are concerned about ink impression transfer to the next page.
- Store the pad flat to keep the sheets crisp and prevent curling at the corners.
