Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
The Febi TED10629 Rubber Buffer is designed for installation on the lower rear axle of vehicles with double leaf suspension. Each vehicle requires two buffers for proper function. Due to the critical nature of suspension components and the potential need for specialized tools and vehicle lifting equipment, professional installation by a qualified mechanic is highly recommended. Attempting DIY installation without proper knowledge and equipment can be dangerous and may lead to incorrect fitment or vehicle damage.
- Safety First: Ensure the vehicle is securely supported on jack stands or a lift, with wheels removed for access.
- Locate Existing Buffers: Identify the current rubber buffers on the lower rear axle.
- Removal: Carefully remove the old, worn buffers. This may involve unbolting or prying the old component.
- Installation: Position the new Febi TED10629 buffer according to the vehicle's service manual, ensuring it's correctly aligned and secured.
- Reassembly: Reinstall any removed components and wheels, then safely lower the vehicle.
Compatibility
This rubber buffer is compatible with a range of popular light commercial vehicles and vans:
- Fiat Ducato: Models 250_ and 290_ (Kastenwagen, Bus, Pritsche / Fahrgestell variants).
- Peugeot Boxer: Kasten, BOXER Pritsche/Fahrgestell, and BOXER Bus models.
- Citroën Jumper: Kasten, JUMPER Bus, and JUMPER Pritsche/Fahrgestell models.
Always cross-reference with your vehicle's specific make, model, year, and existing part numbers (e.g., 512255, 1362685080) to confirm compatibility before purchase.
Care
Rubber buffers are generally maintenance-free. However, it is advisable to:
- Regular Visual Inspection: During routine vehicle servicing (e.g., tire rotations, oil changes), ask your mechanic to visually inspect the rubber buffers for signs of wear, cracking, splitting, or degradation.
- Address Damage Promptly: If any damage is observed, consider prompt replacement to maintain suspension integrity and prevent further issues.
