Setup
- Hardware Installation: Insert the hard drives into the drive bays. Secure them with screws. Connect the NAS to your network using an Ethernet cable and to a power source.
- Software Installation: Download and install Synology Assistant on your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions to find your NAS and install the DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system.
- Configuration: Access DSM through a web browser. Create a storage pool and volumes. Configure user accounts and shared folders.
Compatibility
The DS425+ is compatible with:
- Hard Drives: 3.5" and 2.5" SATA HDDs/SSDs.
- M.2 Drives: NVMe SSDs for caching.
- Operating Systems: Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.
- Network: 2.5GbE Ethernet.
Care
- Cleaning: Use a slightly damp, soft cloth to clean the exterior. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Environment: Operate the NAS in a well-ventilated environment. Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity.
- Firmware Updates: Regularly update the DSM firmware to ensure optimal performance, security, and stability. Updates can be found in the DSM control panel.
