Product Information

Full details

The MAJORITY D70X passive bookshelf speakers are an ideal choice for audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts who prioritize customizable sound quality and a clean aesthetic. Delivering a 60W power output through a balanced 10.2 cm woofer and tweeter system, these speakers provide rich bass and crisp highs suitable for music, movies, and gaming. As passive speakers, they require an external amplifier to function, which serves as a vital caveat for users seeking a simple plug-and-play solution without additional equipment.

FAQs

Do these speakers need a power outlet?

No, because these are passive speakers, they receive power directly from your amplifier through the speaker wires.

Can I use these with my turntable?

Yes, provided you have a phono pre-amp and an amplifier to drive the speakers.

How do I attach the speaker wires?

You can insert bare wire into the screw terminals, or use banana plugs and spade lugs if your cables are equipped with them.

Are these speakers wall-mountable?

The D70X are designed primarily as bookshelf speakers. Please use dedicated speaker stands or shelf space for the best audio performance.

Can I use these as part of a 5.1 surround system?

Yes, they make excellent front or surround channel speakers in a 5.1 home theater setup.

Troubleshooting

No sound output

Verify that your amplifier is powered on, the volume is turned up, and the speaker wires are securely connected to both the speakers and the amplifier terminals.

Sound is distorted or crackling

Check that the speaker wires are not touching each other at the connection points and ensure your amplifier gain is set to an appropriate level.

Lack of bass response

Check that the speaker polarity is correct; if one speaker is wired incorrectly (positive to negative), it will cause phase cancellation which results in thin, bass-less sound.

Pros and Cons

Pros

High-quality, balanced audio reproduction
Compact and elegant design fits well on shelves or desks
Flexible connection options for various audio setups
Removable grilles allow for visual customization
Sturdy construction ensures long-term reliability

Cons

Requires an external amplifier as they are not self-powered
Does not include speaker cables in every region or bundle
Larger than some micro-speakers, requiring specific shelf space

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up your D70X speakers, connect them to your amplifier using high-quality speaker wire. Strip the ends of your wire to expose the copper, and secure them into the rear terminals using either banana plugs or the screw-down bare-wire input mechanism. Ensure that the positive and negative polarities on the amplifier match the speakers. To maintain the equipment, avoid placing the speakers in direct sunlight or high-humidity areas. Keep the grilles clean by using a soft, dry brush to remove dust. If the grilles are removed for a cleaner look, be careful not to touch the exposed tweeter or woofer cones, as they can be delicate.
