Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Blade Adjustment: Loosen the brass locking screw on the stock.
- Position Blade: Slide the steel blade to the desired position, ensuring it moves smoothly but without excessive play.
- Secure Blade: Tighten the brass locking screw firmly to hold the blade in place. Do not overtighten, which could damage the screw or blade.
- Attach Centre Head (if needed): Slide the centre head onto the stock or blade as required for the specific task.
Compatibility:
This tool is designed for general woodworking, metalworking, and fabrication tasks. It is compatible with most common workshop materials including wood, metal, and plastics.
Care:
- Cleaning: Wipe the blade and stock with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove dust and debris. For stubborn marks, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid harsh solvents.
- Storage: Store the combination square in a dry place, preferably in its original packaging or a tool case, to protect the blade from scratches and rust.
- Lubrication: Lightly oil the steel blade periodically, especially if stored for extended periods or in humid conditions, to prevent rust.
- Calibration: Periodically check the accuracy of the square against a known straight edge or a certified square, especially if the tool has been dropped or subjected to impact.
