Full details
This VidaXL garden gate is designed for homeowners seeking a durable and aesthetically pleasing entrance to their garden or patio. Its primary benefit is the use of corten steel, which offers exceptional corrosion resistance and a unique, evolving aesthetic. A caveat is that the gate arrives in its natural metal color and requires time to develop its characteristic rust patina, or can be treated to speed up the process. Key features include its robust corten steel construction, an elegant laser-cut design, and a lockable system for enhanced security.

FAQs
What is Corten steel?
Corten steel, also known as weathering steel, is an alloy that forms a stable, rust-like appearance when exposed to the elements. This outer layer protects the steel from further corrosion, making it highly durable and low-maintenance.
How long does it take for the gate to rust?
The time it takes for the rust patina to develop can vary significantly depending on environmental conditions such as humidity and exposure. It can take several weeks to months. You can accelerate this process by spraying the gate with a saltwater solution.
Does the gate come with posts and a frame?
No, the gate frame and posts are not included in the delivery. These components need to be purchased separately.
Can I paint the gate?
While corten steel is designed to develop its own natural rust patina and typically does not require painting, you could paint it if desired. However, painting may affect the natural weathering process and protective qualities of the corten steel.
What are the overall dimensions of the gate?
The overall dimensions of the gate are 85 cm wide, 3 cm deep, and 200 cm high.
Is the gate lockable?
Yes, the steel gate is equipped with a lockable system for extra security. You may need to provide your own padlock.
How do I clean the gate?
For general cleaning, use a damp cloth to wipe away dust and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the surface or the developing rust layer.
Troubleshooting
Gate does not fit the opening
Utilize the adjustable width feature (90-92 cm). If the opening is outside this range, consider alternative gate posts or consult installation guides for potential modifications.
Rusting process is too slow or uneven
Spray the gate with a mixture of mild soap and saltwater to encourage rust development. Repeat as needed. Ensure the gate is exposed to atmospheric conditions.
Rust stains appearing on clothing or surfaces
Avoid direct contact with the gate during the initial rusting phase. Allow the rust patina to stabilize. Use protective coverings if necessary when handling.
Lock mechanism is stiff
Ensure the gate is properly aligned within its frame. Clean the lock area and apply a suitable lubricant if recommended by the lock manufacturer.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: This garden gate requires assembly. Ensure you have the necessary tools and follow the included instructions carefully. The gate frame and posts are not included and must be acquired separately. The adjustable width feature allows for fitting into openings between 90 cm and 92 cm.
Compatibility: The gate is designed for use with compatible gate posts and frames (sold separately) suitable for its dimensions (85 x 3 x 200 cm). It is intended for garden and patio use.
Care: Corten steel is designed to be low maintenance. It develops a stable rust layer that protects against further corrosion. To speed up the rusting process, you can spray the surface with a mixture of soap and saltwater. Be mindful that during the initial rusting period, the developing rust can stain clothing and nearby surfaces; avoid contact until the patina is stable. Clean the gate periodically with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris.
