Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Unpack: Carefully remove the iron and all accessories from the packaging.
- First Use Prep: Before first use, fill the water tank and iron an old cloth to ensure any manufacturing residues are cleared.
- Fill Water Tank: Open the water tank cover and fill the 300ml tank with tap water up to the `MAX` line. *Always unplug the iron before filling.*
- Plug In: Connect the 2m power cord to a suitable electrical outlet.
- Set Temperature: Turn the temperature dial to the appropriate setting for your fabric. The `Temperature indicator` will illuminate when ready.
Compatibility
The Breville SuperSteam Iron is compatible with most standard tap water, thanks to its `anti-scale filter`. However, in areas with very hard water, using a mixture of tap water and distilled water (50/50) can further reduce limescale buildup. Always check garment care labels for recommended ironing temperatures.
Care & Maintenance
- Self-Clean Function: Use the `self-cleaning function` monthly to flush out mineral deposits and maintain optimal steam performance. Follow instructions in the user manual for proper self-clean procedure.
- Anti-Drip System: If water spots appear, ensure the iron is at the correct temperature for the fabric. The anti-drip feature works best when the iron is sufficiently hot.
- Soleplate Cleaning: Clean the ceramic soleplate with a damp cloth after it has cooled. For stubborn marks, use a non-abrasive soleplate cleaner.
- Storage: Always ensure the iron is cool before storing. The `Safe-Store heat indicator` will tell you when it's safe. Store upright to prevent soleplate damage.
- Empty Water Tank: For long-term storage, empty the water tank to prevent stagnation and mineral buildup.
