FAQs

How do I activate the manual open/close button?

There are typically manual buttons located on the lid. Pressing them will open or close the lid, overriding the sensor function temporarily.

What size bin liners should I use?

You should use standard 50-liter bin liners that fit the dimensions of the bin (40.5L x 29.5W x 58H cm). Ensure the liner is tucked in properly to avoid interference with the lid mechanism.

Do I need to assemble the bin?

No, the HOMCOM 50L Sensor Bin requires no assembly. It is ready to use after inserting the batteries.

How far away do I need to be for the sensor to work?

The infrared sensor is designed to detect motion when your hand is approximately 15-20 cm away from the lid.

How long do the batteries typically last?

Battery life can vary depending on usage frequency. However, with regular use, D batteries generally last several months. It's recommended to replace them when you notice a decrease in sensor performance.

Can the stainless steel exterior be cleaned with household cleaners?

Yes, you can use a mild household cleaner designed for stainless steel or a simple damp cloth with mild detergent. Always wipe dry afterward and avoid abrasive cleaners.

What is the warranty period for this bin?

The bin comes with a 6-month guarantee.

Troubleshooting

Lid does not open with sensor

Check that the D batteries are correctly inserted and have sufficient power. Ensure the sensor is clean and not obstructed. Make sure your hand is within the 15-20 cm detection range.

Lid closes too quickly

The lid is designed to close automatically after a few seconds. If you need more time, use the manual button to keep the lid open or simply wave your hand again to trigger the sensor before it closes.

Lid does not close properly

Ensure there are no obstructions preventing the lid from closing, such as a bin liner caught on the edge or debris around the mechanism. Check battery power.

Bin makes noise when closing

The soft-close mechanism should be quiet. If you hear loud noises, check for any obstructions. Ensure batteries are adequately powered, as low power can sometimes affect mechanism performance.
