RIO Saltwater Leaders

Store the leaders in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, to preserve their strength and performance.

Replace the leader if it shows signs of abrasion, knot failure, or if it has been used extensively.

While designed for saltwater, you can use it in freshwater, but it may not be optimized for delicate presentations.

A blood knot or a double surgeon's knot are recommended for connecting the tippet to the leader.

Rinse the leader with fresh water after each use to remove salt and debris. You can use a mild soap if necessary, then rinse thoroughly.

It is suitable for many saltwater species, but leader choice depends on the size of the target fish and fishing conditions.

Check your knots for proper tying and ensure they are well-seated. Inspect the leader for abrasions and replace if necessary.

Check your casting technique. Ensure the leader is properly attached to the fly line and tippet. If the problem persists, consider a different leader or adjust your tippet length.
