Setup, Compatibility & Care
To keep your scraper performing at its peak, regular maintenance is mandatory. The scraper does not come fully 'ready to work' out of the box and requires the edge to be draw-filed square. Once square, use a burnishing tool to turn a hook (a microscopic burr) along the edge, which is what actually does the cutting.
Care Instructions:
- Keep the tool dry to prevent surface oxidation.
- Apply a light coating of machine oil if the tool is to be stored for an extended period.
- Avoid dropping the scraper on concrete, as this can nick the edge and necessitate significant re-sharpening work.
- Store in a tool roll or protective sleeve to keep the edges sharp and safe.
