Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
This vice is designed for permanent installation. It should be securely mounted to a sturdy workbench or a dedicated mounting plate using appropriate screws or bolts through the pre-drilled holes in its base. Ensure the mounting surface is level and capable of withstanding the forces applied during use.
Compatibility:
The Irwin Record V175B is primarily designed for woodworking applications. Its jaw surfaces are typically flat and may be equipped with dog holes or other features suitable for timber. While it can hold other materials, it is not optimized for precise metalworking or high-force applications outside of woodworking.
Care:
- Keep the main screw and guide nut clean and free from dust and debris. A soft brush can be used for regular cleaning.
- Periodically apply a light coat of machine oil or wax to the main screw threads to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.
- Avoid exposing the vice to excessive moisture or corrosive environments.
- If the jaws become dirty, wipe them clean with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use harsh solvents.
