FAQs

What is the warranty period for the ADATA LEGEND 900?

The LEGEND 900 comes with a 5-year warranty.

What is the difference between PCIe 3.0 and PCIe 4.0?

PCIe 4.0 offers significantly faster data transfer speeds compared to PCIe 3.0, resulting in improved performance for NVMe SSDs.

Can I use the LEGEND 900 in my laptop?

Yes, if your laptop has an M.2 slot and supports PCIe 4.0, it should work. Ensure the laptop's specifications are compatible.

How do I update the SSD's firmware?

Use the ADATA SSD Toolbox software. The software will detect the SSD and provide the option to update the firmware to the latest version.

What is the TBW rating, and why is it important?

TBW (Terabytes Written) rating indicates the total amount of data that can be written to the SSD before it may potentially experience failures. A higher TBW rating generally indicates a more durable drive.

What is SLC caching?

SLC caching (Single-Level Cell) is a technology that utilizes a portion of the SSD's flash memory as a high-speed cache. This improves write performance by writing data to the faster SLC cache first before transferring it to the slower TLC (Triple-Level Cell) storage.

Does the LEGEND 900 come with any software?

Yes, the LEGEND 900 comes with the ADATA SSD Toolbox, which allows you to monitor the drive's health, performance, and update the firmware.

What if my game doesn't load faster on PS5?

While the LEGEND 900 improves load times, the optimization also depends on the game. Some older games or those not optimized for faster storage may not show a significant improvement.

Troubleshooting

SSD not recognized by the system.

Check the M.2 slot connection, ensure the SSD is properly seated. Verify that the BIOS/UEFI recognizes the drive. If the drive is new, format the drive in Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS).

Slow performance.

Ensure you are using a PCIe 4.0 compatible motherboard. Check the drive's health using the ADATA SSD Toolbox. Make sure the latest firmware is installed. Ensure the drive is not near its storage capacity, as this can slow down performance.

PS5 not recognizing the SSD.

Make sure the SSD meets PS5's specifications. Reinstall the SSD, following the official PS5 instructions. Format the drive through the PS5 settings. Check the official PS5 support pages for any known compatibility issues.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Ultra-fast read and write speeds improve overall system responsiveness.
Compatible with PS5, providing a seamless gaming experience.
Advanced features like SLC caching and LDPC ECC enhance data integrity and performance.
Includes SSD Toolbox for easy monitoring and management.
Backward compatible with PCIe 3.0 platforms.
Comes with a 5-year warranty for added confidence.

Cons

Requires a PCIe 4.0 compatible motherboard to achieve maximum speeds.
Performance on PS5 may vary depending on the game.
Higher cost compared to older generation SSDs.
M.2 form factor requires compatible slot on motherboard or console.
Backward compatibility with PCIe 3.0 results in lower speeds.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

Installation: The LEGEND 900 is installed in an M.2 slot on your motherboard or PS5. Consult your system's documentation for the location of the M.2 slot and any necessary screws.
BIOS/UEFI: Ensure your system's BIOS/UEFI recognizes the SSD.
Formatting: After installation, you may need to format the drive in your operating system's disk management tool to make it usable. This is usually not required for PS5 installations.

Compatibility:

Motherboard: Compatible with motherboards that have an M.2 slot and support PCIe 4.0 for optimal performance. It's backward compatible with PCIe 3.0, but speeds will be limited.
PS5: Designed for use as an expansion drive in the PS5 console. Refer to Sony's guidelines for compatible SSDs.
Operating System: Compatible with Windows, macOS, and other operating systems that support NVMe SSDs.

Care:

Temperature: Ensure proper ventilation in your computer case to prevent overheating.
Software: Regularly update the SSD's firmware using the ADATA SSD Toolbox to maintain optimal performance and stability.
Data Backup: Regularly back up your important data to prevent data loss in the event of hardware failure.
