Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: The Moore & Wright Dial Caliper is ready for use out of the box. To begin, gently slide the jaws apart and bring them together to ensure smooth operation. The adjustable dial allows for immediate zeroing. To set zero, move the jaws to the closed position and adjust the bezel until the indicator points to '0'.
Compatibility: This caliper is a standalone measuring instrument and does not require any electronic compatibility. Its primary function is to measure external dimensions, internal dimensions, and depth.
Care:
- Cleaning: Wipe the caliper clean with a soft, dry cloth after each use. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution, then dry thoroughly.
- Storage: Store the caliper in its protective case to prevent damage from dust, moisture, and impact. Avoid storing it with other metal tools that could scratch its surfaces.
- Handling: Avoid dropping the caliper or subjecting it to heavy impacts. While it has a shockproof dial, excessive force can still affect its accuracy.
- Lubrication: Periodically, a very light application of a quality instrument lubricant on the sliding surfaces may be beneficial, but ensure it does not attract dirt.
