Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Identify the damaged thread size on the oil pan, gearbox, or differential.
- Select the corresponding tap from the VS661 set (e.g., M15 x 1.5).
- Apply a suitable cutting fluid or oil to the tap.
- Carefully and slowly thread the tap into the damaged hole, ensuring it is perpendicular to the mating surface.
- Turn the tap clockwise a half to one full turn, then back counter-clockwise a quarter turn to break the chip. Repeat this process until the tap has reached the desired depth or fully reformed the threads.
- Clean the tapped area thoroughly to remove any metal shavings.
- Select the correct replacement drain plug and new washer from the kit.
- Install the new drain plug and washer, tightening to the manufacturer's recommended torque.
