Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: The Sealey Vernier Caliper requires no electrical setup. Ensure it is clean and free of debris before first use. Familiarize yourself with how to read both the main scale and the vernier scale for accurate measurements.
Compatibility: This caliper is a mechanical measuring instrument and is compatible with all standard workshop and engineering environments. It is not dependent on electronic devices or software.
Care:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe the caliper with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. For stubborn grime, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid using solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store the caliper in its included case when not in use to protect the jaws and scales from damage and contamination. Avoid storing it loosely with other tools.
- Handling: Handle the caliper with care. Dropping it can affect its calibration and accuracy. Ensure the jaws are clean and free of grit before closing them to prevent scratching.
- Lubrication: A very light application of acid-free oil on the sliding surfaces may be applied occasionally if the caliper feels stiff, but ensure it is wiped clean afterward.
