Magnesium floats generally provide a smoother and more consistent finish, especially on air-entrained concrete, and are more durable than wooden floats.

While it can be used for smoothing some plaster applications, this float is specifically optimized for concrete and thicker plaster mixes. For drywall mud, other specialized tools might be more appropriate.

Wipe the DuraSoft handle with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners that could damage the material.

Air-entrained concrete has tiny air bubbles incorporated into the mix to improve durability, especially against freeze-thaw cycles. This float is good for it because its smooth surface action helps seal the concrete without destroying these beneficial air pockets.

This float is best used when the concrete is starting to set (sometimes called the 'bull float' stage for initial smoothing, or later for finishing). Using it on very wet concrete may result in an overly smooth or muddy surface.

It's good practice to check the tightness of the torque pad screws periodically, especially before and after intensive use, to ensure the handle remains secure.

Ensure concrete is at the correct stage of set. Clean the float blade thoroughly and check for any hardened material. For air-entrained concrete, verify the mix design is appropriate.

Inspect the torque pad screws securing the handle. If they appear loose, gently tighten them. Avoid overtightening, which can strip the threads.

This can occur with prolonged exposure to moisture or certain chemicals. Ensure the float is cleaned and dried immediately after each use. Minor pitting will not typically affect performance, but significant degradation may require replacement.

While the DuraSoft handle is ergonomic, ensure you are using proper posture and taking short breaks. The float's lightweight design should minimize this issue compared to heavier alternatives.
