Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Russell Hobbs Mini Fridge operates efficiently and has a long lifespan, follow these guidelines.
Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials. Allow the fridge to stand upright for at least 4 hours before plugging it in to allow refrigerant liquids to settle.
- Placement: Choose a level, dry location away from direct sunlight, heat sources (like ovens or radiators), and excessive moisture. Ensure there is adequate ventilation space (at least 10-15 cm) around the back and sides of the unit.
- Leveling: Use the adjustable feet at the bottom to ensure the fridge is perfectly level. This prevents vibrations and ensures proper door closure.
- Door Reversal: If desired, consult the user manual for instructions on how to reverse the door hinge to open from the opposite side.
- Initial Power Up: Plug the fridge into a dedicated earthed power socket. Set the temperature control to a medium setting (`3` or `4`) and allow it to cool down for a few hours before loading it with items.
Compatibility
- Space: Its dimensions (H)49.2 x (W)47.2 x (D)45 CMs make it compatible with most small spaces, countertops, or under desks.
- Power: Requires a standard electrical outlet. Check your local voltage requirements.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the interior and exterior with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents. For the interior, wipe with a solution of baking soda and water to neutralize odors.
- Defrosting the Ice Box: When frost builds up to approximately 5mm thick in the ice box, it's time to defrost. Unplug the fridge, remove all contents, and leave the door open. Place a towel at the bottom to catch melting water. Once defrosted, clean and dry thoroughly before plugging it back in.
- Door Seal: Periodically check the door seal for damage and ensure it forms a tight closure to maintain cooling efficiency.
- Ventilation: Keep the rear condenser coils and side vents clear of dust and obstructions to ensure proper airflow and cooling performance.
