Setup, Compatibility & Care
Planting: Choose a location that receives full sun. Prepare the soil to ensure it is moist but exceptionally well-drained. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and plant the phormium so the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Water thoroughly after planting.
Compatibility: Phormium 'Maori Queen' is compatible with a wide range of perennial and shrub plantings in mixed borders. Consider companion plants that thrive in similar conditions and offer complementary textures or colors. Avoid planting in areas prone to waterlogging.
Care: Water regularly, especially during dry periods, to keep the soil consistently moist. However, avoid overwatering. Mulching around the base can help retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. In spring, remove any dead or damaged leaves. Established plants are generally low maintenance.
