Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Upon receiving your You Garden Rattlesnake Plant in its 11cm nursery pot, ensure it is placed in a suitable location. While it can be displayed in its nursery pot initially, consider transferring it to a decorative pot of appropriate size for aesthetic enhancement. Use a well-draining potting mix.
Compatibility: This plant is compatible with most indoor environments but thrives best in areas with high humidity. It's ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, or conservatories. Avoid placing it near direct heat sources or drafty windows, as this can stress the plant.
Care:
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves.
- Water: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot. Use filtered or distilled water if possible, as Calatheas can be sensitive to chemicals in tap water.
- Humidity: High humidity is crucial. Mist the leaves regularly, place the pot on a pebble tray with water, or use a humidifier.
- Temperature: Maintain average room temperatures between 18-24°C (65-75°F).
- Soil: Use a peat-based potting mix that drains well.
