The Sewing Online Adjustable Dressmakers Dummy - Opal is an essential tool for intermediate to advanced home sewists looking to refine their garment construction and achieve professional-quality fittings. Designed with a naturalistic body shape and full shoulders, this dummy provides an excellent foundation for draping and sleeve setting, though users should note that the size range is specific and may not accommodate all body types beyond the stated dimensions.

The chest range is 84cm-100cm (33in-40in), the waist is 64cm-80cm (25in-32in), and the hips are 86cm-102cm (34in-41in).
While it is primarily designed for dresses and tops, the adjustable height allows you to work on the upper portion of trousers, though it does not feature a split-leg design.
The 2-year manufacturer guarantee specifically covers faulty manufacture, not damage caused by accidental use or improper handling.
Yes, the body is made of a foam-backed material specifically designed to accept pins for marking and draping.
The 12 dials provide individual control over the width and fullness of the chest, waist, and hips, allowing for a precise custom fit.
Ensure that the internal locking mechanism is fully released and apply light pressure while turning. Do not force the dials past their maximum extension.
Check that all four legs of the stand are firmly locked into the base and that the central pole is tightened securely within the mounting bracket.
Setting up the Opal is straightforward: attach the 4-legged base to the central support pole and slide the dummy torso onto the mount. Ensure the dials are turned to the "neutral" position before attempting to adjust them to your specific measurements. To maintain the life of the product, avoid overloading the dummy with heavy, wet, or oversized garments that exceed the recommended weight capacity. Keep the dummy in a climate-controlled environment to prevent the foam backing from drying out or becoming brittle. When not in use, consider placing a light dust cover over the dummy to protect the fabric surface from environmental debris.
