Full details

The Kramer VM-2DT is a high-performance 1:2 HDBaseT extender designed for professional AV integrators who need to distribute a single 4K signal to two remote displays over long distances. It excels at maintaining signal integrity via reclocking and equalization, making it an ideal choice for complex cabling runs in commercial or educational environments. Note that while it supports 4K resolution at 60Hz (4:2:0), users must ensure their CAT cabling meets high-quality standards to avoid transmission drops over the maximum distance.

Troubleshooting

No image on one or both displays

Check all CAT cable connections and verify that the HDBaseT source is powered on. Ensure cables meet specifications for the distance used.

Intermittent signal or image flickering

Ensure the CAT cables are not routed near power lines or sources of electromagnetic interference. Verify the length of the cable run does not exceed the specified 40m for 4K.

Output 1 works with CEC but Output 2 does not

Note that CEC pass-through is only supported on Output 1 by design. This is expected behavior.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up the VM-2DT, connect your HDBaseT source to the input port using a high-quality CAT cable. Connect your displays to the two available output ports. Ensure all cables are securely seated. Because it features I-EDIDPro, the device will automatically detect display capabilities for most standard configurations. For mounting, the compact Mega TOOLS enclosure allows for flexible options; use the included mounting hardware for side-by-side rack installation or secure it in an over-ceiling enclosure. Keep the unit in a well-ventilated area within the operating temperature range of 0 to 40°C. Avoid bending CAT cables beyond their recommended radius to maintain signal integrity.
