Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: The WallEgo Firesteel Fire Starter is ready to use out of the box. Ensure the ferro rod and striker are clean before first use. To ignite, hold the ferro rod firmly, place the striker at an angle against the rod, and scrape downwards with firm pressure. Aim the sparks directly at your prepared tinder.
Compatibility: This fire starter is compatible with a wide range of tinder materials, including cotton balls, dry leaves, birch bark, char cloth, and commercial fire starters. It can be used to ignite camp stoves, barbecues, and traditional campfires.
Care:
- Cleaning: After use, wipe the ferro rod and striker clean with a dry cloth. If the wooden handle becomes dirty, use a slightly damp cloth and dry it immediately. Avoid soaking the wooden handle.
- Storage: Store in a dry place. If it has been exposed to moisture, ensure it is thoroughly dried before storing to prevent potential damage to the wooden handle or rust on metal components.
- Maintenance: Keep the striker sharp for optimal performance. The ferrocerium rod itself is designed for longevity and does not require sharpening.
