Setup, Compatibility & Care
Installation:
This is a solid conductor cable, making it best suited for fixed installations. When running the cable, avoid sharp bends and kinks, especially if installing outdoors or underground. For termination, it requires standard RJ45 connectors suitable for solid Cat5e cable. Ensure the connectors are properly crimped for a reliable connection. For wall installations, use 5mm cable clips. When using faceplates, ensure compatibility with Cat5e solid core cables; recommended QS numbers are provided in the product details (QS: 001074 for single, QS: 001075 for double, QS: 01277 for quad). We recommend using faceplates designed for full copper cables.
Compatibility:
This Cat5e cable supports up to gigabit (1000 Mbps) Ethernet speeds. Its compatibility depends on your network infrastructure, including your router, switches, and network interface cards (NICs). For optimal performance, all components in the network path should be rated for at least Cat5e. It is backward compatible with older Ethernet standards.
Care:
Due to its UV-resistant and waterproof PE sheath, minimal care is required for outdoor installations. Regularly inspect the cable for any physical damage, especially at connection points. For indoor runs, keep the cable away from sources of extreme heat or potential physical abrasion. If the cable becomes dirty, it can be wiped down with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals for cleaning.
