Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Preparation: Gather all components of the kit and ensure you have the necessary tools (hacksaw or jigsaw, drill, screwdriver, measuring tape, and pencil).
- Marking: Determine the desired handrail length and mark the cutting point on the tube.
- Cutting: Use a hacksaw or jigsaw to cut the handrail to the required length.
- Bracket Placement: Position the wall brackets on the wall and mark the screw hole locations.
- Drilling: Drill pilot holes at the marked locations if necessary (depending on the wall type).
- Mounting Brackets: Secure the wall brackets using the included screws and wall plugs.
- Attaching Handrail: Place the handrail onto the brackets and secure it.
- Installing End Caps: Attach the shallow end caps to both ends of the handrail tube.
Compatibility
The Rothley Matt Black Handrail Kit is compatible with most interior staircases. Ensure the wall material is suitable for the included wall plugs (e.g., solid wood, brick, or concrete). If you have drywall, you may need to use different fixings suitable for drywall installation (not included).
Care
- Clean the handrail regularly with a soft, damp cloth.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the lacquered finish.
- Inspect the handrail and brackets periodically to ensure they remain secure. Tighten screws if necessary.
