Verify you are using the correct key. Make sure the cable is not under excessive tension, which can bind the lock cylinder. Try wiggling the key gently while turning.

Check if the battery in the LED key needs replacing. Typically, these use small button cell batteries.

Minor scuffs are cosmetic. If the underlying braided steel is exposed and rusting, consider replacing the lock for optimal security.
