FAQs

What is a platform-top divan base?

A platform-top divan base features a solid, flat surface to support your mattress. This differs from a sprung base, offering a firmer and more consistent feel, and helps prevent mattress sagging.

How do I choose the right storage configuration?

Consider your storage needs. If you require significant storage, opt for the 2 or 4-drawer options. For smaller spaces or minimal storage needs, the no-drawer option is suitable. Note that drawer availability varies by bed size.

What size is the headboard?

The headboard is a 54-inch floor-standing model, designed to create a striking and elegant focal point in your bedroom.

Is assembly required?

Yes, the divan base requires assembly. All necessary bolts, fixings, and gliders are included, and instructions are provided. It is recommended to have two people for assembly.

What type of mattress is best suited for this base?

This platform-top base is compatible with all mattress types, including sprung, pocket-sprung, and memory foam mattresses. It provides excellent support for all.

How do I clean the Naples fabric?

Regular vacuuming with an upholstery attachment is recommended. For spills, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals. Professional cleaning is advised for deep stains.

Where is this bed frame made?

The Sloomy Cambridge bed frame is handcrafted in the UK.

Troubleshooting

Bed creaks or makes noise

Ensure all fixings and bolts are tightened securely. Check that the gliders are evenly positioned and the base is on a level surface.

Drawers do not open/close smoothly

Verify that the base is level. Ensure no obstructions are in the drawer runners. Check that the drawers are not overloaded.

Headboard is wobbly

Re-check the headboard bolts and fixings to ensure they are fully tightened. Confirm the headboard is correctly aligned with the base.

Base feels uneven

Make sure the bed is on a flat, level floor. Adjust or reposition the chrome gliders if necessary to ensure all contact points are even.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: The divan base is designed for straightforward assembly. It typically arrives in sections with clear instructions. You will need to attach the headboard to the base using the provided bolts and fixings. Ensure all clips and connectors are securely fastened. The chrome gliders should be attached to the base corners. It is recommended to have two people for assembly, especially for larger sizes.

Compatibility: This divan base is compatible with all standard mattress types. The platform-top design is particularly beneficial for heavier mattresses like pocket-sprung or memory foam. Ensure your mattress size (Small Single, Single, Small Double, Double, King, Super King) matches the base size selected.

Care: The Naples fabric upholstery should be maintained according to the manufacturer's guidelines. Generally, vacuum the fabric regularly with an upholstery attachment to remove dust and debris. For spills, blot the area immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the fabric. For deeper cleaning, consult a professional upholstery cleaner.
