Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Select the appropriate open-jaw driver size that fits the inner tie rod end.
- Attach the chosen driver to the jaw mechanism of the tie rod tool.
- Position the tie rod tool's socket over the inner tie rod end.
- Connect an open-jaw driver (e.g., a socket wrench or breaker bar, sold separately) to the square drive of the tie rod tool.
- Apply steady pressure to rotate the tool for removal or installation.
Compatibility:
The set includes seven common driver sizes: 1-3/16", 1-1/4", 1-5/16", 1-7/16", 14 mm, 17 mm, and 33.6 mm. It is designed to fit most standard inner tie rod ends found on passenger vehicles. However, always confirm your vehicle's specific tie rod dimensions before use, as specialty or older vehicles may have non-standard sizes.
Care:
- After each use, wipe the tool and drivers clean of grease and debris.
- Apply a light coat of oil to prevent rust, especially in humid environments.
- Store all components back in their designated slots within the blow-moulded case to prevent loss and damage.
- Inspect tools periodically for any signs of wear or damage.
