Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up your Cork Board is generally a simple process, although specific mounting methods may vary based on your wall type and personal preference. Most cork boards do not include mounting hardware in the package. You will typically need to acquire appropriate wall anchors, screws, or strong adhesive strips (like command strips) suitable for the board's weight and your wall material.
- Choose Location: Select a flat, sturdy wall surface in your desired room.
- Determine Orientation: Decide if you want to mount the board horizontally or vertically.
- Mark Mounting Points: Hold the board against the wall and use a pencil to mark the locations for your chosen mounting hardware. Ensure marks are level.
- Install Hardware: Install your chosen wall anchors or adhesive strips according to their manufacturer's instructions.
- Mount Board: Carefully align the board with the installed hardware and secure it firmly. Ensure it is stable before pinning items.
Compatibility
- Push Pins: Compatible with all standard push pins, thumbtacks, and drawing pins.
- Surfaces: Designed for indoor use on most common wall types (drywall, plaster, wood, etc.) when properly mounted.
- Environment: Suitable for various indoor settings such as homes, offices, classrooms, and community centers.
Care
Maintaining your cork board is straightforward to ensure its longevity and appearance:
- Cleaning: To remove dust, gently wipe the surface with a dry, soft cloth or use a lint roller. For light marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used, but avoid saturating the cork. Always let it air dry completely.
- Pinholes: The natural resilience of cork helps it 'self-heal' from pinholes. For heavily used areas, consider rotating the placement of your pins to distribute wear.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the cork material.
- Storage: If storing, keep the board flat or upright in a dry environment to prevent warping or damage.
