The Size 2 Black Halti Headcollar is generally suitable for medium-sized dogs. You should be able to fit two fingers comfortably between the neck strap and your dog's neck. The muzzle loop should rest comfortably on the bridge of the nose, not too tight or too loose.
No, the Halti Headcollar is designed for humane control. It works by guiding the dog's head, discouraging pulling without causing pain or discomfort when fitted correctly. The padded neoprene nose band adds to the comfort.
This varies by dog. Some dogs adjust within a few minutes, while others may take several walks or even weeks. Positive reinforcement and gradual introduction are key to a smooth transition.
Yes, the Halti Headcollar is compatible with standard leashes. The leash attaches to the ring located at the end of the nose band.
The safety link is an additional feature that connects the headcollar to your dog's regular collar. This provides an extra layer of security, ensuring that if the headcollar were to slip off for any reason, your dog would still be tethered to you.
Yes, it can be used for puppy training, provided the puppy has reached a size appropriate for the headcollar and is gradually introduced to wearing it. It's a great tool for teaching good leash manners early on.
No, the Halti Headcollar should be hand washed with mild soap and cold water. Allow it to air dry completely before using it again.
Ensure the headcollar is fitted correctly and snugly. The dog may need further leash training to understand the new walking method. Check that the safety link is attached.
Adjust the neck strap to be tighter. Ensure the muzzle portion is not too loose. Consult the fitting guide to confirm you have the correct size for your dog's head shape.
The neoprene padding should prevent discomfort. Ensure the headcollar is not overtightened. If irritation persists, discontinue use and consult with a veterinarian or professional trainer.
Introduce the headcollar gradually, associating it with positive reinforcement like treats and praise. Start with short durations and gradually increase the time worn.
