Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility:
- Primary Use: Designed exclusively for Cat6 Ethernet cables with solid conductors. Ensure your cable's core is solid, not stranded.
- Not Compatible With: Stranded core Ethernet cables, or network categories below Cat6.
**Setup (IDC Termination):
- Prepare Cable: Strip the outer jacket of the Ethernet cable approximately 1-1.5 inches.
- Untwist & Arrange Wires: Carefully untwist the conductor pairs and arrange them according to the desired wiring standard (e.g., T568A or T568B). Ensure wires are straight.
- Insert into Plug: Gently feed the arranged wires into the corresponding slots on the RJ45 plug. The IDC terminals should align with the conductors.
- Punch Down: Using an appropriate IDC punch down tool, firmly press down on the plug. The tool will seat the wires into the IDC contacts, severing excess wire and ensuring a secure connection.
- Inspect: Visually check that all wires are properly seated and trimmed.
Care:
- Store connectors in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handle with care to avoid damaging the IDC terminals before termination.
