As such, all items in the series are made for enjoyment around a lively table with company — apt for a series whose name describes the Spanish tradition of relaxing and enjoying idle moments, and each other’s company at the end of the meal. Each piece in this set of two white plates is cut from porcelain with a red rim, and can be mixed and matched with other pieces in the family for a bold and memorable dining table setup. Her dishes, which look like extravagant sculptures, echo the settings in which they are served. Mixing artistic performance and cooking, her immersive culinary experiences blur the lines. Laila Gohar uses food both as an artistic medium and a communication tool. Through her convivial, multisensory "edible events", she explores the nature of human interactions. In collaboration with Hay, Laila Gohar has developed her first collection of tableware made up of a family of heterogeneous objects intended for preparing and serving meals: bowls, plates, tablecloths, vases, etc. The collection is called ''Sobremesa'', which refers to the Spanish tradition of relaxing around the table at the end of the meal, enjoying the company of your guests. Through this collection, Laila Gohar shares her creative, sensitive and surprising vision of cooking. "Sobremesa" celebrates the joy of hosting - finding ingredients, cooking, setting the table and, finally, sharing precious moments over a wonderful meal with family and friends. Joyous and colourful, the multi-coloured pieces draw their inspiration from different cultures and let you create festive, slightly eccentric tables: a great way to acquire the quirky, trendy atmosphere that characterises Laila Gohar's cuisine so well. This set includes two stoneware dessert plates, decorated with a contrasting coloured stripe. They can be used for any meal: breakfast, lunch, dessert, or afternoon tea. They can be stacked with the Sobremesa plates to combine the striped patterns.
