The Gutermann Upholstery Extra Strong Thread (701) is designed for sewers and crafters tackling heavy-duty projects like denim, leather, canvas, and vinyl. It offers the ideal balance of high tensile strength and elasticity, ensuring that high-stress seams remain secure and durable over time; however, it requires the use of specific needle sizes to prevent jamming or snapping during machine use.

Yes, it is suitable for leather projects, provided you use a leather-point needle of appropriate size.
It is generally too thick for lightweight or standard cottons; it is intended specifically for heavy-duty materials.
The material is designed to be highly durable and resistant to environmental stress, keeping its color well in standard applications.
Yes, you can use it in the bobbin, but ensure your machine can handle the thread thickness to avoid bobbin case jams.
Each reel contains 100 meters of thread.
While it is synthetic and durable, it is not explicitly marketed as waterproof, though it performs well in outdoor canvas applications.
Ensure you are using a size 100 needle and verify that the upper tension is not set too high.
Re-thread the top machine path and ensure the thread is properly seated in the tension discs.
Check that the needle is fully inserted and that you are using a top-stitch specific needle for heavy fabric.
For the best results, use a size 100 universal or top-stitch needle to accommodate the thread thickness. Ensure your bobbin is wound evenly to prevent uneven feeding. Since this is an upholstery-grade thread, keep it stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve its synthetic integrity. If you are hand sewing, you may use a heavy-duty needle to avoid fraying the thread eye.
