Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Inspect the Cutter: Ensure the cutter is securely seated and properly adjusted. The cutter should be slightly proud of the sole for initial cuts.
- Adjust Cutter Depth: Loosen the adjustment knob and slide the cutter to the desired depth. Tighten the knob to secure the cutter position.
- Blade Alignment: Ensure the cutter is square to the sole for even cutting. Adjust the lateral adjustment screw if necessary.
Compatibility:
This spokeshave is designed for use on all types of wood, from softwoods to hardwoods.
Care:
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the sole and cutter with a soft brush or cloth to remove wood dust and debris. A light oiling of the metal parts can prevent rust.
- Sharpening: The cutter requires regular sharpening to maintain its keen edge. Use a sharpening stone or honing guide for best results.
- Storage: Store the spokeshave in a dry place, ideally with a blade guard or in its original packaging, to protect the cutting edge.
