Embossing Powder - Potting Soil

Embossing powder is a granulated pigment used in heat embossing to create raised, textured designs on paper and other craft surfaces when melted with a heat tool.

Yes, you need a slow-drying, sticky ink pad (embossing ink) to hold the powder in place before heating. Wendy Vecchi's Archival Inks are recommended for compatibility.

It's a rich, earthy brown color designed to evoke the look of soil, with a vintage country garden aesthetic.

While primarily designed for paper crafts, embossing powder can sometimes be used on fabric with specific fabric inks and proper heat setting, though results may vary.

The product information does not specify the exact amount, but it is designed for multiple crafting applications.

Once properly heat-set, embossing powder is generally water-resistant.

Yes, you can layer "Potting Soil" over other colors or colors over "Potting Soil" for unique effects, though it's best to experiment on scrap material first.

Ensure your heat tool is held at an appropriate distance and moved consistently over the powder. Uneven heating can lead to clumping or incomplete melting.

Ensure the ink is sufficiently wet before applying powder. Also, lightly buffing the surface with an anti-static tool (like an embossing bag) before inking can help prevent stray powder adhesion.

This is a characteristic of the "Potting Soil" color. For a glossier finish, consider layering a clear gloss embossing powder over the "Potting Soil" powder after the initial heat setting.

This can occur if the heat tool is held too close or stays in one spot for too long. Maintain a consistent distance and motion during the heating process.
