Product Information

Full details

The Lizard Skins Mega Cache Saddle Bag is an ideal storage solution for cyclists who need to carry a significant amount of gear without compromising aerodynamics or bike aesthetics. Designed for long-distance riders and commuters, this bag provides ample space for a full tool kit and personal essentials while maintaining a sleek, low-profile fit. While it offers excellent capacity, its larger footprint may not be suitable for ultra-compact racing setups or bikes with extremely limited seatpost clearance.

FAQs

Does this bag fit on a bike with a dropper post?

While it can work, it is important to check the clearance when the dropper post is fully compressed to ensure the bag does not rub against the rear tire.

Is the bag waterproof?

The bag is constructed from water-resistant 1000D material, which offers protection against rain and road spray, though it is not rated as fully submersible.

Can I fit a 29er tube in this bag?

Yes, the 68.5 cu in volume is designed to accommodate larger inner tubes along with a multi-tool and other essentials.

What is the purpose of the Amara leather?

The Amara leather is used at contact points to provide a grip-friendly surface that limits abrasion against your bike frame and saddle rails.

How do I attach a light?

The bag features dedicated webbing on the rear panel specifically designed to accept the clip from most standard bicycle safety lights.

Troubleshooting

Bag sways during riding

Tighten the seatpost strap and ensure the saddle rail Velcro is pulled as taut as possible.

Difficulty zipping in cold weather

Ensure no fabric or internal item is caught in the zipper track and clear any grit from the YKK zipper teeth.

Bag touches rear tire

Reposition the bag further forward on the saddle rails or check if the load weight is pulling the bag downward.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Generous 68.5 cu in storage volume
Water-resistant 1000D material construction
Secure no-snag Velcro mounting system
Reflective detailing and light-clip webbing for safety
Protective Amara leather contact points

Cons

Larger size may interfere with dropper seatposts
Requires adequate seat rail clearance due to 9-inch length
Not intended for extreme ultralight racing needs

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install the Mega Cache, loop the no-snag Velcro straps through your saddle rails and tighten them firmly, ensuring the bag is centered. Adjust the secondary seatpost strap to stabilize the unit and prevent side-to-side movement.

Compatibility Note: Measuring 9 inches in length and 5.1 inches in width, ensure you have sufficient clearance between your rear tire and the saddle, especially on full-suspension bikes or those with small frame sizes.

Care Instructions: Keep the exterior clean by wiping it down with a damp cloth after rides in muddy conditions. Avoid using harsh chemical solvents on the Amara leather or 1000D fabric to maintain the material's integrity. Ensure the zipper is kept free of debris to maintain smooth operation.
