Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Connect the UPS to a standard wall outlet using the provided power cable. The input is C14 coupler, requiring a compatible power cord.
- Connect your devices to the UPS outlets. The unit has 8 outlets: 6 battery-backed and surge-protected, and 2 surge-protected only. Use the battery-backed outlets for critical devices.
- Install the PowerChute software (available for download) to monitor power status and configure automatic shutdown settings.
- Ensure the UPS is placed in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Compatibility:
The APC Back-UPS 1600VA Tower is compatible with most electronics. Always check the power requirements of your devices to ensure they do not exceed the UPS's output capacity (960W).
Care:
- Keep the UPS clean and free from dust.
- Do not block the ventilation openings.
- Test the UPS periodically by simulating a power outage (unplugging it from the wall).
- Replace the battery every 3-5 years (or as indicated by the unit) to maintain optimal performance. Use an APC replacement battery cartridge to restore the UPS performance.
- Refer to the user manual for detailed care instructions.
