The Scalextric Hot Laps Gantry (C8337) is an essential accessory for slot car enthusiasts looking to integrate modern digital tracking into their classic Scalextric layouts. Perfect for both casual players and competitive racers, it transforms any standard track setup into an interactive arena by using your smart device's camera to monitor lap times and progress. While it offers a seamless and immersive arcade-style experience, users should note that consistent performance relies heavily on proper lighting conditions and the stability of the device mount.

No, the C8337 gantry is a non-electronic accessory; all tracking is handled by the camera and the Hot Laps app.
Yes, the gantry is designed to be compatible with all Scalextric track systems.
Yes, the Hot Laps app is free to download and required to use the lap-counting features.
The app requires a smart device with a camera; check the app store for minimum OS requirements for your specific device.
The app is optimized to detect cars; however, performance may vary depending on the camera angle and how closely the cars pass each other.
Position the camera so the gantry fills the majority of the frame and keep the room lighting steady.
Ensure the lighting in the room is bright and consistent, avoiding strong shadows or direct light hitting the camera lens.
Check that all slot-together tabs are fully seated and the track surface underneath is completely flat.
Adjust the position of your smartphone or tablet mount to ensure the gantry frame fits entirely within the camera's field of view.
Assembly is straightforward: follow the included instructions to snap the gantry segments together and position the structure over your desired track section. Compatibility is universal across all Scalextric track generations; however, ensure your track is laid on a flat, level surface to prevent the gantry from wobbling. For maintenance, keep the gantry free of dust to ensure the camera has a clear view through the frame. When not in use, the unit can be easily disassembled for compact storage. Always ensure your smart device is firmly mounted in a fixed position so the camera angle remains constant throughout your racing session.
