Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: This file typically requires a handle for safe and effective use. Insert the file tang firmly into the handle socket. Ensure a secure fit to prevent the file from slipping during operation.
Compatibility: Suitable for use on various metals, including steel, brass, and aluminum. It can also be used on hard plastics.
Care:
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the file teeth using a file card or brush to remove metal filings and debris. This prevents clogging and maintains cutting efficiency.
- Storage: Store the file in a dry place, preferably in a tool roll or rack, to prevent rust and damage. Avoid storing it loosely with other tools, which can cause the teeth to dull or chip.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the file for signs of wear or damage. A dull or damaged file will perform poorly and can be hazardous.
